SpankChain Ethereum Hack Of 165.38 ETH Returned By Hacker
SpankChain, a platform involved with the adult industry and cryptocurrency, was the victim of a hack last weekend. However, in an interesting turn of events, the platform has announced that the hacker who stole 165.38 ETH from the SpankChain platform has returned the funds.
According to the announcement, the hacker shared the private key for the wallet holding the ETH after speaking to SpankChain CEO Ameen Soleimani on a phone call. The company published an Ethereum transaction indicating its successful recovery of the stolen tokens.
Update on our recent hack: @ameensol spoke with the attacker on the phone, and they sent us the private key with all the funds. We sent them back $5,000 as a reward along with the 5.5 ETH they used as seed capital for the attack.

The company further stated that SpankChain was transferring the stolen ETH to a wallet that was under its control. Furthermore, the hacker helped the company retrieve roughly 4,000 BOOTY, the native tokens of SpankChain, that were immobilized during the hack. The same was purchased from the hacker at $4,000.
Though the hacker’s identity hasn’t been released, SpankChain showed their appreciation for the return by providing them with a $5,000 reward, $4,000 in retribution for the BOOTY tokens, and 5.5 ETH. The total monetary value of what SpankChain gave the hacker was about $9,000.
