Robinhood Adds Ethereum Classic to Crypto Investment App
Robinhood is adding Ethereum Classic Support to its commission-free cryptocurrency trading platform.
The company made the announcement on Monday via its Twitter handle saying: You can now invest in Ethereum Classic on Robinhood Crypto, commission-free.
In February, Robinhood launched its commission-free cryptocurrency trading platform, Robinhood Crypto, which has been deployed to 19 states across the U.S. and is expected to roll out country-wide by the end of 2018.
In May this year, the company announced that it has concluded its Series D funding round, raising $363 million in the process, which it says will be used for expanding its cryptocurrency services.
According to the co-founder and CEO Baiju Bhatt, Robinhood seeks to become the largest cryptocurrency platform in the US. “..We’ll have the absolute best experience for investing in crypto as well—from having a large variety of coins available to a more favorable cost structure—mainly no commissions—to just quality of product,” Bhatt said.
The platform currently offers trading in six major cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), and the recently added Etherum Classic (ETC).
The ETC/USD pair has spiked by 7% following the announcement. Ethereum Classic is currently trading at $17.72 with a trading volume of more than $263 million in the last 24 hours.
