Opera Becomes First Browser to Introduce a Built-in Crypto Wallet on Android
Opera has become the very first mainstream browser to implement a built-in digital wallet on Android.
The next version will include a brand new storage solution for Ethereum, its tokens, and various collectibles.
The company wants to assist its customers in managing their cryptocurrency via a built-in digital wallet on Android.
Crypto Wallet is straightforwardly incorporated into the program, which means you can easily switch between surfing the web and making cryptocurrency transactions. This can be particularly convenient when visiting a site to make virtual currency-based purchases.
Opera developer Chris Hamel described the new features, which includes cryptocurrency payments and storage as well as interactions with the Ethereum blockchain and DApps online.
A user who installs the Opera browser will have instant access to thousands of DApps, from decentralized exchanges to CryptoKitties.
“We think that with a built-in crypto wallet, the browser has the potential to renew and extend its important role as a tool to access information, make transactions online and manage users’ online identity in a way that gives them more control [… Ethereum] has the largest community of developers building Dapps and has gathered a lot of momentum behind it […] This is our first step towards making cryptocurrencies and Web 3.0 mainstream.”
Opera hopes that the launch of the new wallet will open the door for more users and merchants to begin using and building cryptocurrencies. “Paying with the Crypto Wallet is like sending digital cash straight from your phone, and we’ve just made it easier,” Charles Hamel, Opera cryptocurrency product lead said in a statement.
“Our hope is that this will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for actual payments and transactions in our users’ daily lives.”
