Bing Joins most Social Networks in Banning Cryptocurrency Related Ads
Bing, the search engine powered by Microsoft, has announced a ban on all advertisements related to cryptocurrencies the new policy would take effect in June 2018.
Microsoft now joins its other industry counterparts by banning Cryptocurrency Ads on their Search Engine Bing. Citing the unregulated status of cryptocurrencies, as the prime reason for the ban.
Google, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat have all banned Cryptocurrency ads. Bing recently updated their Ads policy on May 14th in a blog post banning all Cryptocurrency ads. Bing now joins a growing chorus of social media platforms that have banned crypto advertising.
“Because cryptocurrency and related products are not regulated, we have found them to present a possible elevated risk to our users, with the potential for bad actors to participate in predatory behaviors, or otherwise scam consumers,” said Melissa Alsoszatai-Petheo, advertiser policy manager. “To help protect our users from this risk, we have made the decision to disallow advertising.”
Though Microsoft has banned Cryptocurrencies, they are constantly participating in multiple Blockchain Products. Though the companies have banned ads, CEO of both Facebook and Twitter embrace Crypto. CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey is also the CEO of money transfer app Square where people can also buy Cryptocurrencies.
